Establishing a personal brand can help you land a job.
A recruiter recently asked me how to find qualified job seekers through social media. More companies like hers are searching for candidates on the web, and people who are well represented are more likely to be considered.

In marketing, the definition of branding is the sum total of a company’s value, including products, services, people, advertising and culture. That includes logos, symbols and designs that promote consumer awareness of goods and services. Personal branding is the process whereby people and their careers are marketed as brands.

  2. Create expectations
  3. Promote your causes
  4. Increase your visibility
  5. Illustrate your best work
  6. Sell products or services
  7. Share your purpose and vision

You can create a plan to develop and manage your brand or hire a professional to help you …

... LAUNCH an appealing website and blog that has a clean, simple design and is easy to navigate and maintain. Incorporate logos and colors that differentiate your business or personal brand. Include images that clearly define your brand.

... EXTEND your reach and grow connections by utilizing social marketing and media platforms that fit your audience.

... INCREASE your search rankings by posting relevant articles, images and links. Exchange information on blogs and media outlets that are frequently used by your target market. Include special offers and valuable information, and develop and implement a timely communications cycle that consistently drives traffic to your online presence.

... GET PERSONAL by sharing stories and experiences that relate to your readers and listeners. Get involved in your community and network to establish mutually beneficial relationships. Maximize the power of e-mail marketing to stay in touch.
