A super simple way to support your customers using LinkedIn

Your LinkedIn home page gives you an easy way to support your customers, prospects, suppliers, and business acquaintances: Like, comment, and share their posts!

Here’s how:

Log into LinkedIn. The page that opens is your home page where you will see dozens of posts, some from your customers and prospects discussing new products, new hires, and other good news. Simply click the Like, Comment, and Share buttons to further their message.

Each option has particular benefits:

Like is super easy, so if you only have 5 minutes to spare, click a few likes, or hover over the hand icon to select the Celebrate, Support, Love, Insightful, or Humorous options.

Commenting is much more powerful. According to LinkedIn, commenting can improve the chance a post will be seen by as many as four times more people than a simple like.

Sad but true fun fact: Only about 10% of your connection network sees your posts -- either pay to sponsor your post or encourage people to comment on your posts to get more people to see them.

Happy yet true fun fact: When you (pleasantly) comment on people's/companies' posts, they tend to respond in kind ... and LinkedIn starts sharing your posts near the top of their newsfeed to make it easier for them to comment on future posts.

Use the comment feature to say something positive about people's posts, to strengthen the relationship with the original poster, or to encourage others to weigh in on their topic.

The Repost option encourages you to comment AND spread your customers’ messages with your network to expand their reach to many more people.

Include your customers’ company name with an *@” symbol when commenting. Example: @wiseru to make sure they see it. Use hashtags, such as #technology or #internationalstudents to attract readers interested in their topic.

Follow your customers’ company page (by typing a company name into the search box and clicking the Follow button on its page) to ensure that their posts appear on your home page.

Quick Tip: Comment on people's posts before you like them. This helps increase the visibility of the original post.

Support your prospects’ and customers' posts! They just may support you in return!
