I was let go from a company when I was doing 3 people's jobs and doing it well (including new computer programs which I embraced as wonderful) - but then had to train 3 people to take over what I had been doing because they were paid a lower salary and well, it was also because of my age. I am not ready to retire, but after not finding a job for over a year, I am more disheartened by when I see who is being hired and their lack of job skills and knowledge, but that they text all day long and act as if they don't have to be service oriented or work appropriate. I think its a shame that older workers have to "dress younger" and "act younger" to land a decent job, when that really has nothing to do with how well you perform said job - only that you "look young" while doing it. I would have taken a cut in salary to keep my job - but that was never an option.
